Your journey begins early in the morning as you depart from Marrakech towards the High Atlas Mountains, passing through breathtaking scenery along winding mountain roads. Marvel at the panoramic views of valleys, traditional Berber villages, and terraced hillsides dotted with olive groves and almond trees.

Your first major stop is at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village that seems frozen in time. Explore the maze-like streets, climb to the top of the ancient kasbah, and immerse yourself in the rich history of this iconic landmark. Learn about its significance as a trading post along the historic caravan route between the Sahara Desert and Marrakech.

Enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the picturesque ksar before continuing your journey to Ouarzazate.

Your adventure begins in Ouarzazate, where you’ll be picked up from your hotel Departing from the city, you’ll travel southeast through the stunning Draa Valley, known for its lush palm groves, ancient kasbahs, and traditional Berber villages.

En route, stop at the historic Kasbah of Tamnougalt, an impressive fortified structure dating back to the 16th century. Explore its labyrinthine corridors, intricately decorated rooms, and panoramic rooftop views, gaining insight into the region’s rich history and architectural heritage.

Continue your journey towards Zagora, passing through picturesque landscapes characterized by rugged mountains, vast desert plains, and winding riverbeds. Upon reaching Zagora, known as the « Gateway to the Sahara, » you’ll have the opportunity to explore the town and its surroundings.

In the late afternoon, embark on a camel trek into the desert, led by experienced guides. Traverse the golden sands of the Sahara as the sun begins to set, casting a warm glow over the landscape. Arrive at your desert camp, nestled amidst the dunes, where you’ll be welcomed with traditional Moroccan hospitality.

Wake up to the tranquility of the desert and witness the sunrise over the sand dunes, painting the landscape with hues of orange and gold. After breakfast at the camp, bid farewell to your hosts and embark on a camel ride back to Zagora.

Upon returning to Zagora, visit the iconic sign that marks the « Tombouctou 52 Days » milestone, symbolizing the historic caravan route to Timbuktu.

Before departing Zagora, take some time to explore the local markets, where you can browse for souvenirs, handicrafts, and traditional wares.

As the day progresses, begin your journey back to Marrakech, retracing your route through the Draa Valley and the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, pause for lunch at a local restaurant and continue to enjoy the scenic vistas.

Arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening, where your memorable desert adventure concludes. From here, you can either continue your travels or return to your accommodations in Marrakech.
